Dial-a-Ride 24-Hour Advance Reservation System

In an effort to make Dial-A-Ride more efficient, a new computer aided dispatching system is being implemented in the near future. The amount of passengers utilizing the Dial-A-Ride service has outgrown the capabilities of the current paper and pencil dispatching system. The new dispatching system will help improve the Dial-A-Ride service by shortening the amount of time the passenger has to wait for their ride. This system will also make it easier for the dispatchers to get the passenger to their destination on time.

Starting May 1, 2009, all Dial-A-Ride passengers will need to call by 5:00 p.m. the day before to schedule their rides. You can call earlier to set up your ride if you wish. The new system will allow the dispatcher to take reservations for a ride up to 30 days in advance. Passengers can call in to make advance reservations beginning April 1st.

When you call to schedule your ride, you will still need to give the dispatcher the following information:
     Your Name
     The address you wish to be picked up at
     The address of your destination
     The time of your appointment
     If you need any assistive devices, such as a wheelchair
          or a van with a lift

After entering this information into the computer, the dispatcher will give you a time for pick-up. The computer will be used to assist the dispatcher in making the most efficient routes so that everyone gets where they are going on time.
