The much anticipated launch of 2-1-1 Humboldt has now begun, providing Eureka and County residents with access to free 24/7 referrals to hundreds of community, governmental and social resources. 2-1-1 Humboldt is a neutral and confidential source of help and support in any non-emergency situation by phone via a three-digit phone number (2-1-1) or online at http://www.211Humboldt.org/.
The 2-1-1 program will work to reduce misdirected calls to 9-1-1, and help direct non-emergency calls to appropriate resources to meet callers' needs. The program will also support local service providers with data collection, helping them better anticipate needs and demand for services.
2-1-1 Humboldt is a program through United Way Humboldt/Del Norte, and provides a broader, more capable version of the Humboldt Community Switchboard which has been in service for more than 20 years, providing a clear pathway to connect local residents with the services and people who can help. These services include:
> Locate food.
> Locate child care and after-school programs for your kids.
> Find care for elderly parent(s).
> Find out where to get flu shots.
> Connect with immigration assistance.
> Connect to physical and mental health resources such as counseling, drug and alcohol programs, children's insurance, MediCal and Medicare.
> Find support for services and persons with disabilities including home health care, home-delivered meals and transportation.
> Find help in times of natural disaster.
