Press Release

City of Eureka to participate in nation-wide project!

The City of Eureka has been selected as a candidate for Benjamin Moore's "Main Street Matters" campaign.

Benjamin Moore is going state-to-state to provide a color paint makeover for store fronts in the main commerce areas of North American towns. The hope is that it will have a revitalizing impact on the towns, the merchants and the families that live there, as well as the visitors that come by.

Eureka is one of approximately 100 towns across America that has been selected to participate in Benjamin Moore's biggest initiative ever to revitalize communities across North America. People are encouraged to vote to help select 20 towns that will ultimately receive this uplifting color paint makeover in the year ahead.

Participants/voters can vote daily for the City of Eureka. Voting began on May 16, 2013 and will end at 11:50 p.m. EST on June 30, 2013.

If Eureka is chosen as a winner, Benjamin Moore will provide the paint and supplies needed for facades, porches, railings, shutters and other exterior building trims. Their color experts will consult on the best choices that will enhance the architectural style, regional influences and historic references in each community. Skilled professional painters, many of them members of the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America, will be hired, putting another segment of local business to work along with the local Benjamin Moore retailer who will be mixing the paints that are used.

"We are so pleased to be a partner with the City of Eureka in the Benjamin Moore's Main Street Matters contest", says Charlotte McDonald, Executive Director of Eureka Main Street. "It would be a real benefit to our community. Much like the Facade Grant program used to be."
